From the inception of my travel blog, this has been the longest dry season in terms of blogging. Past 6 months have been disappointing for me when I look at the home page of my blog. It’s not just the number of posts but the overall enthusiasm had dropped down. I had been noticing an alarming level of procrastination in myself and since I didn’t work on it, it resulted in inevitable. The blog has hit its bottom in terms of recent quality content.I am trying to figure out what has gone wrong, why it seems so LOST.
I wanted to put blame on my busy schedule. As I am not a full-time travel blogger, it does get really hard at times to pick up the pen after I am done with my working day. Then on weekends also, I have been occupied in one or other tasks. As a matter of fact this will never end and I will never be able to write like I used to do before. But the truth is it’s the lack of interesting content, that is keeping me away from writing a new post. I don’t feel like posting something which I myself wouldn’t find interesting to read later. So instead of posting something boring, I have been holding it back.
I am in search of new ways to travel. I have been to numerous cities, hill stations, beaches, temples, waterfalls and I am equally delighted to visit them every time. But when I sit to pen down, I am feeling there is a bit of repetition. Witnessing a waterfall live still gives me a lot of joy but writing about it is not the same. There has to be something unique about it. Or is it the other way that since I want to write something different, I am not able to write anything. Is it called writer’s block ? I don’t have answers right now.
What I do know is, I am going to do something about it. I think that is the first step one has to take if one has to bounce back. But this doesn’t imply, I am going to travel a far off or exotic location in ‘pursuit of happiness’. I always read about longer stay at a place and enjoying the city at much relaxed pace and wanted to experience it myself. I am getting one such opportunity where first time I will be exploring a city for more than 2-3 days. I don’t plan to see all 50 tourist spots in the city but visit few good places, relax in cafes and gardens, read lot of books and chill out. In a city where everyone is in hurry and rushing, I will sit peacefully and watch people running around. I am going to write Mumbai diaries soon.
