This is a guest post by a fellow travel blogger Manya. She has shared her experiences and tips about destinations in Ooty.
If you live somewhere in south India, then you can always take a day or a weekend trip to Ooty, which would be your neighbor (and one which we envy)! Ooty is a place where nature rests throughout the year! If God had a kingdom, then surely Ooty would have been his capital!
Majestically sitting over the Nilgiri hills at a decent altitude of nearly 7k feet, this hill town has everything going in its favor. Without taking your time further, let me dive into the best places to visit in Ooty
1.Botanical Gardens: If you love nature, then you must visit this garden! If you don’t love nature, then you still must visit this garden! With thousands of plants hailing from hundreds of species, lilies, eucalyptuses and ponds, birds, squirrels and flower shows, there are many reasons why this place is the biggest Ooty attraction. And that 20-year old fossil tree is the star of the show!
2. Ooty Lake: Whether you love boating or whether you love fishing, this picnic spot is an all-time favorite!
3.Dodabetta Peak: You should check out the huge stretch of open landscape from the summit of Ooty! At Dodabetta Peak, you will feel at the top of the world! And please do not forget that camera!
4.Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary: Don’t tell me that you are not fascinated by what they show on Discovery! Yes, now you too can shoot (I mean photo shoot) the deer and chase the cats or play with the reptiles (pardon the cheerful tone)- this park is where you can enjoy an intimate rendezvous with animals (just don’t let it get too intimate)!
Other important places to visit in Ooty are Lamb’s Rock (a viewpoint), Kalhatty Falls (waterfalls always interest me ^_^), Sim’s Park, Dolphin’s Nose, Avalanche and Coonoor. Plus, there are some churches you may like to visit. And the tea gardens should win your heart any day!
